The Oak Fair will once again be held on the August bank holiday weekend. For anyone who hasn't visited before, this is a special event for those interested in woodcraft, timber, conservation and the countryside. There is something that will appeal to all members of the family including over 200 exhibitors, events in our arenas including The Heavy Horse Logger team who compete a number of challenges over the weekend, Mere Down Falconry who bring a variety of birds of prey that put on amazing displays and Have A Go Archery which is available to everyone to try! We also have tree climbing and zip wires for the younger visitors to experience and Avalon Axes who demostrate axe throwing as well as letting all our visitors have a go! Market Square will be buzzing with local food and drink producers with the Childrens Area situated nearby that will have a range of workshops for all family members to take part in and scarecrow making!
There will also be performances in St Barnabas church over the weekend, Saturday will see Bagatelle returning to perform two short concerts and on Sunday we are delighted to welcome for the first tme the William Barnes Society.
Dike and Son of Stalbridge will once again be the main sponsor of the Oak Fair, you'll be able to find their pitch in Market Square - look out for Camilla the cow!!! We are also thrilled to welcome back Townsend Timber who will be sponsoring the Timber Yard area and for the first time this year F Cuff and Son will be sponsoring Oak Avenue.
Please be aware traffic around Blandford, in particular the A354, will be very heavy over the bank holiday weekend and we advise looking for an alternative route.
